Celebratory academy impressed guests

On Friday, 9 January 2015, the Park Murska Sobota theatre hosted a new-year celebratory academy Alma Mater Europaea. Boštjan Žekš, consultant of president Borut Pahor and an esteemed scientist, welcomed the invited guests, which included the head of AMEU, deans of other Slovenian faculties, esteemed scientists, mayors, economists, AMEU students, and other AMEU friends.

Academician Boštjan Žekš emphasized in his speech that we have problems in Slovenia with organisation and thinking from previous periods. "This applies to the difference private–national. In the past, we were taught that what is national is good, and what is private is bad. And then the world changed. It is claimed across the globe that what is private is good, and what is national is bad. We are also saying this, but acting completely opposite. And we don't have the ability to follow the rule where the good thing is good, and the bad thing is bad," said dr. Žekš.

The culture programme presented dancers from the Dance Academy, Tjaša Predan and Nejko Peter Levak, and included the concert by Alfi Nipič and 6pack Čukur, which impressed the audience. Popular musical creators joined in the I listen Slovene project where they promote Slovenian music together. Alfi Nipič was recently awarded special credits by President Borut Pahor. Alfi and Čukur kept the ambient in the Park theatre going throughout the concert, and all present awarded them with a powerful and loud applause.
